Stéphanie Durand, Vice-President, Space Program Policy
Stéphanie Durand joined the Canadian Space Agency in . She is currently Vice-President, Space Program Policy, responsible for policy, international and business relations, strategic planning and corporate reporting, safety and mission assurance as well as communications and public affairs.
Previously, Ms. Durand was Director General, Emergency Management Policy and Outreach at Public Safety Canada, where she was responsible for leading the development of national emergency management policies and programs for the Government of Canada related to disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response, as well as modernizing disaster recovery mechanisms. Stéphanie was responsible for intergovernmental and international relations, as well as private sector engagement.
Prior to that, Ms. Durand was the Director General of Communications for Public Safety Canada where she headed the communications function for the department, led various public awareness and education campaigns, as well as oversaw whole-of-government crisis communications efforts for the Government of Canada. She also managed the public affairs coordinated response for the Vancouver Winter Olympics on security and public safety issues, the G8-G20 in Toronto, as well as numerous high-profile events of national interest.
Ms. Durand has also held a variety of senior level corporate and communications positions at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, including Ministerial Services, Parliamentary Affairs as well as Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
Before joining the Public Service of Canada, Ms. Durand worked for two years in Singapore in international marketing, public relations and event planning. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Queen's University.
