Studying the Arctic atmosphere from the ground, air and space
From to , a group of eight researchers (including postgraduate students, a postdoctoral fellow and a senior research associate) is collecting data on atmospheric conditions from the Polar Environment Atmospheric Research Laboratory (PEARL) facilities in Nunavut. These measurements, taken with state-of-the-art instruments installed on the ground and aboard balloons, are used to validate data from Canadian instruments on the SCISAT and Odin satellites.
The campaign has been running at PEARL since . This effort supports our satellite missions, ensures we have accurate data for climate and atmospheric studies, and provides a truly unique training experience for the next generation of scientists!
The validation campaign is supported by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Northern Scientific Training Program.
