Pat Greene - Technical Lead at MDA for the operations of Canadarm2 and Dextre

Pat Greene

What is unique about your job?
Problem-solving when issues arise in space, and ensuring that the software we write for Canadarm2 and Dextre is safe, considering robots perform operations near astronauts on the International Space Station. This is the most challenging and rewarding part of my job.

Which professional accomplishment are you the most proud of?
Winning the Silver Snoopy Award from the NASA Astronaut Office for my work on Canadarm2.

Who or what helped you the most throughout your career?
Having a senior engineer take the time to teach me and help me understand what to do, how to do it and why we do it. I try to pass the same on to the next generation of engineers.

What advice would you offer to girls or women?
Don't let people dissuade you from achieving your goals. Find a mentor who will help you reach them.
